Watch Now: Webinar on Mobile App Monetization & Distribution (Archived)

Last week, Tapjoy co-founder Ben Lewis gave a talk about mobile applications and how virtual currency can help developers both monetize and distribute their apps. He addressed many of the challenges developers face in the current environment, like how to get their apps discovered, when to go Free-to-Play, how to improve RPUs, and more. His advice for the latter? Implementing a virtual goods system lets developers increase RPUs through a hybrid approach that includes paid downloads, CPM/CPC ads, CPA offers and in-app purchases. Click on the link below to watch the webinar archive and find out what other advice he offers.

Making Your Users’ Info Safer, More Secure

As you might already know, Facebook recently built a mechanism enabling developers to obtain an anonymous identifier for their users, which can then be passed to third-parties such as us without inadvertently sharing the user data with anyone else. This mechanism embeds the UID in a HTTP POST body rather than in the HTTP Referrer (where it was previously embedded), ensuring that the UID cannot be seen by anybody.

Facebook is giving you until January 1st to implement the mechanism, but we highly recommend that you do so well ahead of the deadline. You can obtain a third-party identifier through either the Graph API or FQL, and implementation should require minimal effort. For more information on the necessary steps, here’s the Facebook documentation.

Once you’ve done that, as an additional security measure, we also recommend that you start using our encrypted payload to encrypt any information that you’re passing us. This is also a very simple process that can be completed in a matter of minutes. To get started, visit our Knowledge Center and follow the steps described there to display offers with our encrypted IFrame.

We fully support Facebook’s efforts to make their ecosystem safer and more secure for everyone. That’s why we’ve created an encryption device that goes above and beyond their standard mechanisms. We hope you’ll help us give your users maximum protection by committing the brief time it will take to implement our encrypted IFrame.
