Tapjoy’s Android Network Growth for June to July 2011

Everyone is chiming in on Android, and discussions about its astronomical growth rates are not only sizzling hot in the Silicon Valley, but worldwide. So how big is it exactly? According to Google CEO Larry Page’s blogpost on August 15, Android now has a total of over 150 million activated devices. With its recent acquisition of Motorola Mobility for $12.5 billion, that number is expected to increase dramatically over the coming months.

Here at Tapjoy, we’ve seen our Android growth skyrocket as well. The numbers, as you’ll see below, support Android’s growing dominance and the speed with which users are adopting the platform.

Between June 1st and July 31st, Tapjoy saw a 32.5% growth in Monthly Active Users based on connects, or the number of times an app is opened.  That timeframe also saw a 41% increase in the number of offers requested and a 42% growth in offers shown on Android devices. The number of clicks has gone up by 44%, and conversions, measured whenever a user successfully completes the requirements spelled out in an advertisement, went up 54%.

What’s the takeaway message? Android is taking over. The question is, are you ready?

Tapjoy’s Network Surpasses 10,000 Mobile Applications, Adds Games from OMGPOP, Moblyng, Craneballs Studios, Game Circus, Spry Fox, Others

We are proud to announce today that we recently signed several new developer partners on both iOS and Android, bringing our total network size to more than 10,000 applications that are using Tapjoy to provide users with safe, consumer-friendly ad-funded payment. That’s pretty significant because it means there are at least that many apps that have adopted the freemium, virtual currency-based monetization model. Some of our new partners include OMGPOP, Moblyng, Craneballs, Game Circus and Spry Fox, among many others.

“Free-to-play titles are driving user experience and engagement in mobile, and we are honored to partner with so many of the best and fastest growing developers leading this charge,” said Mihir Shah, president and CEO of Tapjoy. “Our developers tell us that nearly one-third of their total revenue comes from our platform, which speaks to the tremendous consumer demand for easy-to-use and 100% trustworthy alternative payment options like ours.”

Many of our latest publishers also serve as our advertisers, acquiring new installs and qualified user engagements through our performance-driven ad marketplace. Reaching more than 30 million daily active users, we deliver over 1 million ad completions every day for app developers and brand advertisers. Not all our ads are for installs, of course. Users can also earn in-app virtual goods or currency in exchange for completing simple tasks such as installing applications, watching videos, signing up for targeted services or participating in other ads from trusted brands and app developers.

“We recently released Puppy World on iOS, and we’re working with Tapjoy’s ad platform to execute on our go-to-market strategy and ongoing marketing initiatives with great success. The relationship was an important part of us exceeding our goals,” said Wilson Kriegel, chief revenue officer at OMGPOP, a leading developer and publisher of social and casual games across platforms. Puppy World is the company’s first iOS game. “As we expand to Android, the breadth of big-brand ads Tapjoy makes available, combined with their innovative ad units, scale, and overall business model is certainly going to provide us with the tools we need to achieve great success there as well.”

Giving Back to the Community

This past Saturday, we went to volunteer once again at the Curry Senior Center by serving lunch and playing Bingo with senior citizens. Curry Senior Center is a non-profit organization in San Francisco which provides medical treatment, counseling and meals to low-income and frail senior citizens who need assistance. Because it was our second time to volunteer, our friends were excited to have us back and so were we! Thanks for the great conversations and the new friendships made. We’ll see you later this month!
